The Midwest Fitness Fest featured four lifting sports, CrossFit, Powerlifting, Strongman, and Weightlifting.
Four gyms came together to make this event possible, CrossFit Fargo and SoulFire CrossFit (CrossFit), Rock Steady Barbell (Weightlifting), and Dakota Barbell (Powerlifting and Strongman). There were twenty-six powerlifters entered with a mix of established powerlifters and first-timers.
Anthony Carlquist of Dakota Barbell was the meet director and judges were Ryan Goldstone, Kathy Johnson, and Patrick Elkin and provided fair and consistent calls. Loaders and spotters were members from Edgar’s House of Pain and ensured the safety of all lifters and staff on the platform all day long.
The Midwest Fitness Fest 2026 was managed by Jason Ehlert, APO Board Director, ND State Director, and Northland Director, who modeled the event similar to the Arnold Sports Festival and the Olympia Weekend. The vibe was awesome and many athletes and spectators alike had a great time. The Midwest Fitness Fest 2027 is planned for April 24th, 2027.
