The 3rd Annual Winny Memorial was held at Anchor Athletics and Strength on November 9th. This meet is held in remembrance of pet loss and every year the meet directors Val and Anthony Oliveira host a food and supply drive for two local organizations, Pope Memorial SPCA, a local animal shelter, and Old Dogs Go To Helen, a local organization that takes in hospice care dogs and gives them a soft place to land and medical treatment until they pass. The supply drive brought in 176 pounds of dog food plus many other necessary supplies and $131 of financial donations to these two causes.
It is no secret that the sponsors of meets at Anchor make for a pro level experience, with the convenience of a local meet. Lifters were gifted swag bags upon weighing in, courtesy of Bigg Dawg Trucking LLC, Max Effort Muscle, Trigger Warning Conjugate, Cerberus Strength USA, LMNT and Clearly Balanced Days. All other sponsors contributed to the prize packages for best lifters and second place lifters. Best lifters received $300, best lifter trophy, LMNT 30 pack, and their choice of prize package. The first contained a full EiteFTS band set and Overkill 1m wrist wraps, the second contained Overkill 3m knee wraps, EliteFTS duffel bag (all courtesy of Toby and Rachael Hurley) and a prize basket of CBD products from Clearly Balanced Days. One month of coaching from Al Ghul Performance was awarded to the two biggest totals of the day, a service valued at $750. The best lifters of the day were Gabe Johnson and Sherrie Simoneau in the equipped divisions, and Noah Wiencek and Autumn Mullen in the raw divisions. Second place lifters were also recognized as well as recipients of the Diddly Squat Award, awarded to the “best” squats of the meet.
As always, the platform, judging, table and front desk crews at Anchor made for a flawless day for the lifters with no misloads and impeccable spotting. The next meet at Anchor will be the 3rd Annual New England Classic in spring 2025. Follow Anchor’s social media so you don’t miss sign ups!
